# Built in Social Recovery

During wallet setup, the user is guided through enabling social recovery:

* Choose 3–10 guardians from their contacts (if the wallet has access to an address book) or enter wallet addresses manually.
* Set a recovery timelock (default 7 days).
* Optionally, add email‑based recovery (using threshold cryptography).

If the user ever loses their device, they can initiate recovery directly from a new wallet installation. The wallet interface walks them through contacting guardians and submitting recovery requests.
